Memorial Tournament

Steve Stricker with a three-shot lead and just more than five holes remaining, had to spend the next two hours in the clubhouse waiting out a storm delay. Stricker now faced two clutch par putts down the stretch—from 15 feet on No. 16 and from 7 feet on No. 17—and poured them both in the center of the cup. He closed with a 4-under 68 for a one-shot victory at Muirfield Village.  Now Stricker is headed to Congressional in two weeks as one of the players who could be a big factor in the U.S. Open. He was a runner-up at Congressional in 2007 during the AT&T National, and that putting stroke goes a long way on any course.
