Erica picked up her first golf club at the age of five, andhas been hitting the links ever since. With the gentle guidance and coaching ofher father Mel, Erica quickly made a name for her in the golfing world andbecame a professional in June of 2004. Before she took on professional status,Erica was a standout on the American Junior Golf Association circuit andgarnered numerous awards and accomplishments. She was a three-time first-teamPolo All-American, was a member of the 2002 Canon Cup and winner of the 2002Rolex Tournament of Champions. Blasberg has also competed in five U.S. Women'sAmateur Championships and was a quarter finalist in 2003. When it came time tochoose a college to attend and play golf for, Erica decided to be a part of the strongUniversity of Arizona women's golfteam. She continued to excel in the college ranks and was a two-time All-American,2003 NCAA Freshman of the Year, 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year, and recordedsix tournament wins for the Wildcats. In 2003, Blasberg carded a 64, her lowestin amateur competition, during the second round of the Welch's/Fry'sChampionship and tied for 49th. Erica began her professional career in 2004 onthe Futures Tour and nailed down four top-10 results in eight events, whichincluded a victory at the Lacona Savings Bank Futures Golf Classic. Shequalified for the LPGA Tour on her first try. On the LPGA tour, she carded acareer-low 68 in the second round of the Office Depot Championship at TrumpNational Golf Club in Los Angeles and also won a Mercury Mariner with a hole-in-one during the third round of theSybase Classic. She enjoys running, reading magazines and shopping.
